At first sight it seemed that the gambeson looked well, and as well it seemed to fit well around me. For it’s light and seems to be combat ready for the price. The only problem would be the bottoms on the side, but it’ll take some getting used to.

Absolutely awesome! Great quality fabric and stitching. Good fit, order one size bigger then the t-shirt you wear. Light does not mean thin. Still very padded. Essential for a basic look. Don’t even need armor over the top to look good. King in the North!!!!!!

I’ve worn this both as padding under plate and chainmail armor, and as an outer garment for warmth and fashion, and it does splendidly in both roles! Just thick enough to prevent chafing without being stifling, and still easy to move in with a nice, breathable material.

I wish there were one half size bigger than the XX-large, or that I was a few inches trimmer as this is a great light-weight gambeson. I’m sitting at a 52 inch waist (300lbs, 6ft even -normal shirt size 2XLT or 3XT) and while it technically fit on me, the fit was rather awkward with my large belly – the side panels bowed out and made for and odd beach umbrella feel. I’ve noted that another review mentioned the odd sides and I think that I now understand what they were saying. It isn’t a dealbreaker, but it just doesn’t sit quite the same as other gambesons.
I’m not certain that the light weight would stand up to actually being hit, so as a practical piece I can’t speak to the lightness except to say it isn’t like most other gambesons where you are wearing what feels like a rug converted into a winter coat.
All in all it is pretty solid and the price is pretty fantastic, it just isn’t right for everyone for all uses.
