Before you don your armour for the battle awaiting you, make sure that you put on some padding first with the 12th Century Infantry Gambeson. Made from cotton, this gambeson has cotton padding. It comes in five sizes. Based on a 12th century design, the gambeson features long sleeves and a short standing collar. The collar buttons at the side. This helps with putting on the gambeson. At the hem, the gambeson has slits in the front and back for greater mobility. This gambeson looks wonderful on a variety of characters. This item feels great! I haven’t tried it with my armor yet but it’s not too thick and it doesn’t feel like im a marshmallow.

I wanted a thinner, lightweight gambeson to replace my heavier House of Warfare one. It most certainly is thinner and lighter, in fact there is no internal padding at all (the outer shell is tough, and the liner is light) It is plenty comfortable underneath my chainmail and serves it’s purpose as part of my costume (wouldn’t be my first choice if I was actually going into battle). It is baggier than my HoW gambeson, which makes it easier to get in and out of, and under the weight of mail, does not appear baggy (worn by itself, it does appear to be “too big” though the sleeves come down to my wrists, and the bottom reaches my knees). Time will tell how comfortable it is after a full, sunny day at the fair. Overall, it is precisely what I wanted for an upgrade (though I do wish it was a bit more form-fitting if I wanted to wear it without chain mail). The quality is spot on for the price

I got it in the black, and it’s the perfect color and thickness for what I was going for. It’s also very breathable. I needed something thinner than a different gambeson I got, since I had difficulty strapping my bracers to it, but this gambeson is perfect for wearing armor over. Love it!

Its actually pretty decent quality but there are some issues I ran into, which might chalk up to my body changing due to muscle growth.
1. Its very good quality and I actually quite like it, but its deceptively thick. Don’t misunderstand me, it isn’t thick, it’s just thicker than I expected it to be. Because of this, it doesnt work with my hauberk. Its tight around the shoulder and armpit area. This could probably be fixed with some tailoring, but because of this issue I cannot use it until I either get new tailored maille or attempt to fix my current one.
2. Its easy to put on but a little difficult to take off. Its really awkward to take off cause I’m not able to easily remove an arm out of a sleeve to pull the rest off. This could also be an issue of having broad shoulders.
3. The sleeves are slightly shorter than I anticipated. I measured my sleeve size and consulted the size guide and found that it would give me an extra inch, which it didn’t. More of a nitpick really.
Despite my issues, I still think its a great product. I’ll still.be keeping it and hoping I can use it later. Still worth 4 stars
