A weapon does not have to be fancy or overly done to be deadly – that goes for real battling as well as for LARP conflicts. This LARP Footman Mace offers a traditional mace design that will leave your foes battered and beaten before you. The mace features a wood-toned shaft with a leather-wrapped grip that makes it quite comfortable to hold and wield. Steel-grey studded accents wrap the shaft for reinforcement, while the tip is capped with a flanged mace-head that, in a real mace, concentrates the impact and lends armor penetration to each strike. This weapon is crafted from an extremely durable foam that does not shred, which has been sealed within a strong coating of latex. As safety is always a concern in LARP, this weapon also features a round, flexible fiberglass core that bends and flexes. The core also features a durable Kevlar cap for added protection, both against the core and for when the weapon is used to stab.

Care Instructions:
- Latex weapons do need to be maintained to a certain degree. We offer a 100 ml LARP Protection Gel Silicone (MCI-3722) in our LARP Accessories section. We recommend you use the silicone on a regular basis. The silicone will keep the coating flexible and increases the lifetime of the weapon. It also prevents the coating from drying out, and improves resistance to wear and tear.

I have been buying a variety of items/weapons to try to see which would go better with the Viking Costume I have going. Whether for costume parties with my friends or for any LARP event, I figured that a mace would look pretty simple yet effective. And this doesn’t disappoint at all!
Seriously, this is a very good and “humble” looking weapon. It is very light and can be used with one or two hands. It’s a bit on the medium size, meaning that it is more personal fighting but not too long to make it awkward. It goes nicely alongside the round shield that I have.
Overall, I was aiming to get a weapon that didn’t look special. BUT this is specially made, despite appearances. I encourage someone who is making a viking, militia-man, guard or mercenary costume to get this. Even for a peasant look, this would fit in. Somehow, a peasant got a hold of a militia mace. Ha ha.

I got this to go with my Crusader outfit. It is very solid but still very light. It is also long, so it will have plenty of reach.
