I cannot, in all honesty, say that I am a huge fan of the single-hand sword. I am spoiled by the length and versatility of the longsword, be it a bastard, or two-handed version. However, the medieval weapons courses I am studying includes various weapons and calls for the use of a single-hand sword and buckler. This sword is solidly built, light to wield, and feels comfortable in the hand. The point of balance seems to be where it should be. The blade is spring steel, and can be arched, returning as it should to its original form. The blade does come factory sharpened; but if you’re like me, you will want to hone it further. The sword looks good as well; a basic, single-handed, disc-pommeled, knight’s broadsword. When most folks think of a medieval knight, this is likely the sword they picture in their mind. It’s not fancy, but it is practical. It will nicely serve the purpose for which I bought it.
