The polearm is the epitome of weapons technology for the Medieval foot soldier. Designed to provide superior reach and even the playing field for infantry being accosted by mounted cavalry, what started as a simple pike or spear began to evolve into a number of different polearm designs, all of which were highly specialized and deadly effective. The Fauchard is one of these specific polearm designs, and we’ve recreated it with painstaking attention to detail. Mounted on a 42-inch hardwood staff, this Fauchard is forged from high-carbon steel for strength and flexibility. Featuring a flat blade with a concave curve along the slashing side that tapers to a sharp point, this Fauchard works both as a slashing and a piercing weapon. A forward-facing hook on the back end of the blade offers additional stopping power, and a pair of flared wing-like spikes near the bottom of the blade help finish off any opponent that survived the first strike while keeping them well away from the wielder at the same time. One look at this Fauchard and you know it means business!
