Take to the battlefield, brave warrior. You do not fear the enemy as you know your own capability with the Talhoffer Langmesser Sword. Made from carbon steel, this messer sword has a long, single-edged blade. The wide blade has a small secondary edge near the top on the spine. A fuller runs down most of the length of the blade.
The sword continues with a wide, straight crossguard. In the center, the crossguard has a side guard that sticks out. It helps with deflecting blows away from the wielders hand. The hilt continues with a gently curved handle. The handle has a short section of wood, riveted in place. Meanwhile, the rest of the handle consists of the pommel. The steel pommel continues the flat, smooth shape of the wood. It curves slightly towards the edge side of the sword. Finally, this sword comes with a leather scabbard. The Talhoffer Langmesser Sword is great for historical reenactments or adding to a medieval sword collection.

The Talhoffer Langes Messer is an excellent reproduction. I had to put an edge on the blade which was easily done with a hand grinder. This messer replicates that illustrated in both Talhoffer’s and Leckuchner’s fretch books. A pleasure to use. I would be interested to know who made the sword and the exact type of steel used, i.e. EN45, 1090, etc.
