Made of a soft, cotton blend plaid, this tartan skirt offers a flat front waistband with an elastic back for a sure fit for any Scottish event. After the defeat of the Jacobites at Culloden in 1746, the British government passed an Act of Proscription which banned, among other things, the wearing of tartan. The Act was repealed in 1785, but it was not until 1822, when King George IV made a visit to Scotland and demanded that all citizens should wear their clan tartan, that the tartan industry was reborn. This Scottish Plaid Skirt will suit you well at any Highland Games or Renaissance fair, as well as adding a touch of bonny style to any modern outfit.

Beautiful skirt! The fabric is a soft, flannel-like cotton that is not too heavy. It has a lovely full flair! Be aware that this is a “small/medium” – but it’s VERY Big and VERY LONG even with the spandex waist. I am 5′ 3″, about 115 pounds — a small person — and I had to tailor this pretty significantly. I only wish it came in XS!

I love this skirt. It is very long, especially since I’m 5′ 4″. It is fun to spin around in. Great material and it fits around my waist perfectly, with plenty of room to spare.

It’s a beautiful skirt with nice weight. I’m 5’8″ 180lb. I bought the small/medium but it is still too large. So I’ll need to alter it a bit. I am very happy with it otherwise.
