The chainmail is made up of 18 gauge steel rings, each with an 8 millimeter diameter. These round rings are round riveted together for strength, and they are woven in a traditional 4-in-1 pattern. A 4-in-1 pattern consists of four chainmail rings woven through another ring. This Roman lorica hamata comes in two different sizes. For the price, it’s a great buy. There were less than a dozen popped rivets and no broken links, so that’s a really easy repair, and not one I’m mad about for something that costs as little as this. It’s noticeably long on me (I ordered the large as the medium is too narrow for my chest/shoulders), but trimming it down some isn’t something that’ll be an issue either. It looks great, it isn’t too heavy, it’s easy to move in, and it’s sturdy and well-made.
