The pirate boots have an aged look that is complemented by tasteful detailing. Made from synthetic leather, these privateer boots have an incredible look that would be right at home on the deck of a ship. The rugged 0.5-inch soles of the boots feature a 1.25-inch heel. The cuff of the Renaissance boot is elegantly folded over and held down with a simple strap that is secured via a brass, ornamental buckle. Matching ornamental buckles adorn the calf and front of the buccaneer boot, in order to secure other leather straps that make wearing these pirate boots easy and comfortable. The Mens Ornate Captain Boots serve as a great addition to virtually any level of pirate attire, whether you are the captain of the vessel or not.

This instep-zippered boot is adequate for wear for most men. It’s not a plain boot but it will not be the item that makes your costume stand out above all others. It has a matte finish. The diameter of the top of the boot was not written in the boot description though. I found that the widest part of my calf diameter was too much to completely zip up this boot. Though I might get away with having the boot only halfway zipped up, I think would look sloppy. I wear a size 11.5 shoe but ordered the Large (12-13) so I could wear thick socks. It was a good foot fit. Wish there was a wider leg at the top that could be drawn tighter with buckles for more slender legs. Workaround might be a black spandex and Velcro strap wrapped around under the top flap of the boot to hold the boot top together for large men.

The boots are very convincing, however, they are rather skinny in the sole and use zippers all the way up the inner side of the boot. Overall I’m satisfied for the price in comparison to other available boots of this style, but it would have been more preferable and a bit more authentic if the cuff actually wasn’t split on the inside for the zipper. Also the soles aren’t quite hard enough to really drive home that you’re walking into a room. Aside from these two concerns they’re great.

These are excellent boots! I google image searched and cross referenced boots for an entire month, because the last thing I want is blisters, and determined these would be my go to boots. I am very impressed! The sole is rubber and solid, and with inserts these are more comfortable than my broken in Army boots. Dare I say… I could wear these every day! The zips down the side will allow you to tuck in some pants if needed, and are a NECESSARY convenience in my opinion. The exterior quality isnt flaking or poor quality, it feels like quality synthetic leather. On the contrary, I think these boots will hold up for quite a lot of Ren Faires in the future.
