Made from 18 gauge steel, this black shield comes as a single shield. It has a traditional heater shield shape. The shape features a convex curved top edge and its two sides curve down into a point at the bottom. At the center top, there is a pair of holes. These holes are great for attaching to other piece of armour or clothing with leather strings and more. Leather strings do not come included. Near the point at the bottom, there is a leather strap on the back for securing the shield onto the arm. The shield is a great item for DIY projects. - To properly maintain your steel armour, always keep the metal pieces away from water and lightly oiled to prevent rusting. Occasionally clean the armour with metal polish and re-oil them. Leather care products must be used to maintain the leather fittings as well.

These are pretty nice, they look real good laced on to my hauberk. The one reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the arm straps are a little short. I can get them buckled on the last hole over my hauberk but if you have large arms or are wearing a thick gambeson you’re going to have trouble. Nothing you couldn’t figure out but just something to be made aware of. Additionally, this is sold as a pair, not an individual shield, this is not mentioned in the description. I ordered 2 thinking that it was just one and got 2 pair. Luckily a friend of mine liked how it looked so much that he wanted the extra set from me.
