The Steel Fafnir Brigandine is made with comfort in mind, constructed from metal plates that have been riveted on a backing of padded suede. The body armour can be put on swiftly so you are ready to fight in a matter of minutes. Due to its 8 oz. leather padding, the steel brigandine does not need to be worn with a gambeson or a similar garment. The fit of this medieval armour can be adjusted to three different sizes with leather straps pulled through eyelets. The plate armour can be worn in various combinations, as well, by removing the shoulder plates or thigh protectors as desired. The steel plates on the chest and back display a bright metal finish with corrugated details, making this LARP armour ideal for knights and champions of all sorts. Be sure to check out all of our Fafnir-style armour when planning your ensemble for your next LARP battle or re-enactment.

Please be aware that this armour is handmade, and it can be thicker than listed here. As such, it is intended mainly for costuming, light reenactment, and LARP.

Fits very well and is also fairly comfortable. Looks good with other items in the set.

The brown leather is a very dark brown, could almost be black, not a negative thing but be prepared if that’s not the color you’re going for. For the price this is an incredible piece. The segmented plates are great for range of motion and mobility but it’s core is very rigid and you will need another person’s help donning and doffing this. Overall it’s a perfect item for LARP or other costuming needs.

Fits almost like a glove. I’m 6 feet, three inches and average build. Getting in is very easy. Getting out is a BIT of a task but can be done. Note, could be me. Anyway, shipped wrapped and already oiled, ready to go.

Fits well, I have full movement of what I need and looks impressive to. The sued IS dark, so don’t let that fool you! (Open the ‘blacken’ set in another window and flip back n fourth) I ‘accidently’ paied for overnight shipping and got it here with plenty of time for my event.

Product fits well and is awe inspiring. It cleans up well and keeps its sheen. The only difference between this and blackened is the metal is a little darker. With enough accents you can turn this into anything. Also the shoulders and “skirt” are tied together so you could remove them if you want.

I didn’t give it 5 stars as there were a few rivets and buckles with long fasteners to it I had to cut down to get it to fit. But really, that’s a minor detail. Wear it and rest it before brining it in. Fits like a coat.

Gorgeous armor. Weighs about 35 pounds and when situated, can be comfortable but if you choose to not have a gambeson underneath, you will definitely want shoulder padding at minimum. Getting in and out is a slight hassle due to the tassets being tied to the armor with cord and to put it on at all, you must remove the center tasset.
I returned mine as the plate corners were not penny round as my LARP (Amtgard) requires and it would have been a good deal of work to fix at the time.

All in all, its a nice set of armor that just needs some creative work to fix its downsides like having a separate belt for the center tasset and distribute the weight a little better. 4 stars because while great, some of the corners were too pointed to be safe and would require grinding down, possibly marring the look.
