I have become fond of lightweight linen tunics for comfort as they are not too hot when worn under layers of armor and gear. However, the options seem to be drying up (at least for inexpensive, mass-produced versions). So, I bought one of these in natural with a plan to dye it (which I have not done yet). But in comparison to other linen tunics gone by, this one fits better and seems more durable, and has a smoother finish to the material than others I have purchased. While I preferred the rougher look, the fit and seeming durability of this tunic is much appreciated! Not to mention it is still available. Hopefully the dye job will turn out well.

I decided to buy one of these after reading the review by skulhedman since I, too, like linen medieval clothing. I bought an XL in Natural. Everything reviewed previously is exactly as described. Fits nicely? Check. Durable? Check. Smoother finish? Check. All I can add is that I bought the XL thinking it would shrink like all the other linen items I own. But this one, strangely, did not. I washed it on the Gentle cycle in a clothes bag & air dried it–just like I do with all the others. When I tried it on again, it was still just as roomy as it was when I pulled it out of the package. The company name on the ticket is called “The Pirate Dressing”. The reverse side of the tag said the material was comprised of “Cotton/Rayon/Linen”. It did not give the information of how much of each material made up the whole fabric. My guess is that there is very little linen in it since there was practically no shrinking & it’s the last material mentioned on the tag. I haven’t put it in the dryer, so that could cause shrinking. But, it’s probably mostly Rayon. In spite of this fact (whether it’s true or not), the tunic is comfortable & breezy to wear. I’m almost comforted by the fact that it won’t shrink drastically so I can feel confident about buying a Large as my measurements recommend. An additional fact to note is that the material has a “see through” quality to it. Especially in the lighter colored tunics like Natural or White. You can see it in the photos at the bottom hem by the model’s knees. If you are going to wear this tunic by itself, stay away from water. Even when dry, you can faintly make out certain “features” underneath the Natural color, like chest hair, tattoos, bras, no-bras, etc. I think you get the idea. Now, all we need to know is how the dye job went for skulhedman. Hopefully, he/she will update their results because I’m curious about it, too.

This is a great tunic. I bought it with the intention to dye it. It went well, had I not used Warm water instead of hot, but that’s my fault. Overall I really like the quality and the incredibly lightweight feel.
