Coin purses date back as far as 3,300 B.C. (the earliest example of one was dated around this period). Both men and women wore them, and they were often elaborate in design. As time went on, they grew more and more elaborate, until about the 17th century, when they reached their height of design. It was also around this time that mens breeches started coming with built in pockets, negating the need for a man to carry a coin purse (many still did in their pockets, though).

I really like the service from Medieval collectibles. They shipped very fast and their website was easy to navigate.

This is a cool & unique leather drawstring pouch. Its accordion-style design opens & closes smoothly & is well put together. The leather is kind of stiff, a little shiny, & looks like what modern day purses are made out of that women carry. I have other Deepeeka leather pouches that look the same way. So, it doesn’t look as rustic as suede leather would look, but it works out just fine. The pouch is also smaller than described. The actual pouch itself measured 3 inches wide by 4 inches tall when fully opened & filled out. The black pieces of leather at the opening barely give it an extra inch and a half to its height. Be mindful of that if you are expecting it to be 2 by 6 inches. That is roughly what it measures when the pouch is empty & closed. I’m not sure why it’s over $12 when I have bought comparable (and, sometimes better) pouches for much less from MC. Based on its own merits, I do like this pouch & would buy it again.
