The blade is pretty sharp, but you might want to touch it up a bit before trying to split any wood with it. The blade is also mounted securely on handle with no wobble.

I bought this to go with the matching leather belt clip (MY101366) that I bought for a completely different purpose that didn’t work out. It looks exactly as pictured & has a very sharp edge on it. It’s a great size for carrying around on your hip. I’m not sure about the handle, but it seems solid enough. As noted previously by nils.olson, mine has no wobble in the handle, either, & it feels like it will do its job with no problem. If the handle should fail, I’m confident in the axe head to have a new handle inserted in place of the old one. I will update once I have tested it out.

This is a nice hatchet. The blade is sharp and the handle is secure. My handle was rougher than I liked and needed a bit of sanding to make it comfortable for chopping. It stays in my camping gear and goes to the ren faire
