The Crusader Great Helm was developed early in the 13th century. The Great Helm became the mainstay of the medieval fighting man and lasted for about 300 years. Sometimes worn over a smaller helmet and mail, this beautiful helmet with its menacing, narrow eye slits was a strong, tough steel helmet fully capable of absorbing the shock of combat. This particular version has brass reinforcing bands, and is produced by hand with the same techniques they used over 600-800 years ago. The Crusader Great Helm is handmade from 18 gauge high carbon steel and fully wearable. No padding is included.

The helmet is big so it will fit a larger head, but its not massive so you wont look like a bobble head. The helmet was great.

a decent helm but with no real options or built in abilities to make it fit more snugly (which is a shame) but if you are willing to put in your own chin straps and padding you will do ok

This helmet is well made and has an excellent shine. My only complaint is it does not have a head strap (as advertised).

Helmet is exactly as pictured. It is lined with a thin foam layer and a black coating on the inside to prevent rust. Keep it lightly oiled. I recommend using a padded arming cap for comfort and that also helps with the fit. The eye slits are narrow, so it is a little hard to see the ground when you are walking.

I’ve seen some reviews mentioning large amounts of space. It’s worth noting that this style helm was meant to be worn with an arming cap and chain coif. It fits fantastic.
