Perfect for a time-traveling adventure into the exciting era when Viking raiders ruled the European coast. This overdress is handmade from a robust cotton canvas. The rougher weave not only increases its durability, but also enhances its authentic look and feel. The A-shaped dress is made to wear over an ankle-length underdress. It reaches to approximately the calf and is fitted with attached shoulder straps. Knotwork decorates the neckline and the lower hem.

I bought this overdress in green to wear as a servant in an amateur theatre group play. It was so comfortable and practical, I now wear it around home with a long-sleeved turtleneck under it. It covers me up on a cold day, but is loose-fitting and so very comfortable. Just the right length for my height (5’5″) so there’s no danger of tripping on the hem, and fits my 120 lbs without binding. Even my cats like sleeping on my lap with this dress! The reason I gave it 4 stars for the description is that it says to hand wash if possible and not put in a dryer. After I wore it for our play, I was not paying attention while doing laundry and tossed it into the washer and dryer (on the hot setting). I was afraid it would shrink, but it came out unchanged and not needing ironing. It has received the same treatment several times now and weathers the washer/dryer sturdily. My fabric softener sheets have made it even more comfortable with each trip to the laundry. I’ve now ordered it in brown as well. Not just a costume!

Holy mackeral; i just received my package
Message: I asked my sister to buy me one of your Alva apron canvas dresses for my birthday, and I just received it. I have to say that your website doesn’t do it justice. It isn’t what I expected. It’s so much more. It’s quite beautiful, and truth to tell, I can’t believe it’s so inexpensive, given the heavy fabric with which it’s made and the unexpected (and lovely) celtic embroidery around the yoke and the hem.
I can’t wait to wear it! Just beautiful and so worth the money!
