Loosely translated, sucre vert means little more than green sugar, which could be a reference to the beautiful decoration set on the end of the Sucre Vert Absinthe Spoon Necklace or a direct reference to absinthe itself. This slim necklace takes the form of a classic piece of absinthiana, which is an accoutrement that was typically used in the preparation and drinking of absinthe. This particular necklace is actually an absinthe spoon, or rather, it looks like one. The stem of the spoon is decorative and features a rounded opening at the end, where a circular linkage with the letter A inscribed on it links the spoon to its necklace chain. The bowl of the spoon is squared and semi-flat. Rather than the typical slotted design found on absinthe spoons, the bowl of this spoon features a marvelously clear emerald-green Swarovski crystal, which is perhaps designed to replicate the classic green color of absinthe itself. Regardless of meaning, the Sucre Vert Absinthe Spoon Necklace is a very well named piece of jewelry. If you consider just the design of the necklace, it is easy to see why anyone would refer to this impeccable piece as green sugar.

This is exquisite. The green is captivating. The detail is beautiful. It has a good sturdy weight to it. The only complaint is the chain, it turns brown quickly and rubs off onto the neck. I plan to buy a silver chain and switch it out. LOVE it.
