The size chart says to go by your chest measurement but this is not accurate. Expect the measurements in the chart to be for the actual garment. Size small is the exact measurement of my chest at 40-42.5 inches and I could not button it and had to return for a medium.
Aside from this the actual garment is nice, and fabric is good quality.

I couldn’t be happier with this black velvet doublet. I’m 5’9″ and 240 pounds, and the fit is excellent all around (XXXL) —comfortable without feeling too tight or too loose. Keep in mind that it is dry clean only, which is worth knowing before you buy. The shoulder poofs looked a little unusual to me at first, but after wearing it, I realized the design makes perfect sense. This doublet is intended to be worn as a standalone piece or paired with a cape or long vest, rather than under a jacket. For the price, the quality is outstanding. It looks fantastic, feels well made, and has become one of my favorite pieces of medieval clothing. If you’re looking for an affordable, eye-catching velvet doublet for Renaissance fairs, LARP, or historical costuming, I highly recommend it.
