As a true warrior of the Renaissance, you prefer a sword like the Opera Nova Cut and Thrust Sword. Made from EN45 high carbon steel, this sword has a double-edged blade. The blade has a diamond cross-section. Next, the sword features a unique crossguard. The crossguard has two slightly angled arms and two loops. The loops curve towards the top of the blade. In the middle, the crossguard features a black leather section. Then, the hilt features a wire-wrapped grip. The texture from the wire makes the sword easier to hold. The sword ends in a scent stopper-style pommel. Finally, the sword comes with a wooden scabbard. Black leather covers the wood. The scabbard has a steel chape and locket. The locket features a hanging pin. This sword makes a great option for any swordsman. You can easily use it in a historical reenactment or add it to any sword collection.

First off, I will say that I’m a Deepeeka fan; they’ve allowed me to build up a collection at an affordable price. If they have a piece that you like, don’t let someone dissuade you from purchasing it; it’ll be built like a tank and you won’t find another at that price point.
That being said, I love this sword even though I might be in the minority. I’m judging this sword for what it is not what it isn’t. I think the design is beautiful even though the fit and finish is rough. The quillons and finger rings have some asymmetry, but even arms forged for kings and emperors were not perfectly symmetrical and historically this is probably closer to what a soldier or burgher would have owned. The sheath has good stitching, no blemishes, and completely straight.
The blade isn’t perfect but it’s close, stiff and responsive. I got mine unsharpened because I’m trying to learn sword and buckler so I can’t comment on its cutting ability. Yes, it has minor distal tapering making it heavy and the point of balance is too far forward. But it also weighs less than 3 lbs, if it’s way too heavy there’s other issues going on. Think of it as a training tool and if you get into HEMA and buy more expensive swords you’ll be that much stronger.
If you’re just getting into collecting or training this is a fine piece, other cut and thrust side swords will cost you 3x more and I am very satisfied with my purchase.
