A Blade that Evokes its Viking Heritage

Descended from Scandinavian raiders and settlers, also known as Vikings, the Normans were a vassal state of the Carolingians who rose to power by becoming intrepid conquerors and mercenaries. They even conquered England under the leadership of Duke William the Conqueror, winning the Battle of Hastings in 1066 wielding blades like these. This sword is forged by hand, so please note the shape and color may vary. This fully functional sword feels right at home in reenactments, light sparring, and your sword collection alike.

Forged from EN45 high carbon steel, this fully functional weapon features a full tang and is able to withstand extended blade-on-blade contact. High carbon steel means this historical sword replica is forged from a silicon and manganese steel alloy known for its incredible toughness and resilience. Having a full tang means the metal blade extends into the handle as one piece, giving the weapon strength and balance. The unsharpened, double-edged blade has a fuller reminiscent of Type X sword styles from the Oakeshott typology of swords. The fuller not only removes excess weight from the blade, it also bolsters the edges for blade-on-blade contact. At the end, the tip of the blade is round for added safety. A shallow taper also makes the blade profile slightly narrower toward the tip.

Moving down to the hilt, the brown leather-wrapped handle accommodates a one-handed grip. Similar to arming swords and knightly swords, this Norman sword replica can be wielded with one hand while the other holds a shield, another weapon, or the reins of your horse. The leather-wrapped grip is dark brown, further wrapped with thin wire in a braided pattern. It not only accommodates a one-handed grip, it also grounds the design of the sword with rustic charm.
