The design is taken from Longclaw’s description in the books and George R.R. Martin’s detailed notes and descriptions. Starting with the blunted, double-edged blade, it has three fullers running down the length. Fullers remove excess weight from the blade without compromising its strength. In the middle, the fuller is widest with the thinner fullers on each side. Each thin fuller starts at the forte and ends at the start of the foible. The forte is the shorter, stronger side of the blade closest to the guard. The foible, also known as the edge of the blade near the tip, has a raised middle ridge. This blade also has the layered, forged pattern that Damascus and Valyrian steel are known for.

Moving down the blade, the crossguard is made from cast metal with an antique nickel finish. The crossguard is in the cruciform style much like the swords of medieval Europe. On each side, the quillons end at pronounced points that angle toward the blade. Each point of the quillon has two notched rings for added detail. Just underneath the crossguard is another angled bolster reinforcing the center and adding another layer of detail. Wrapped in genuine black leather, the handle secures a hand-and-a-half grip with embossed rings down the length.

True to its counterpart in the books, the pommel is shaped like a white wolf’s head with red eyes and carved fur. This pommel is coated with white powder. Each eye is a real Garnet gemstone. After centuries of being handed down from generation to generation in the House of Mormont, the bear pommel was reforged and replaced with the wolf head pommel after Jon Snow saved Lord Commander Jeor Mormont from the ice wight attack.
