Landsknecht Brass Hilt Katzbalger Dagger

When you want a small sidearm for your late-medieval reenactment, why not carry a dagger like the Landsknecht Brass Hilt Katzbalger Dagger? Made from C60 high-carbon steel, this medieval German dagger takes its design inspiration from a favorite sidearm for the Landsknecht. The Landsknecht were a fierce and well-known mercenary company, most commonly from Germany.

This unsharpened medieval dagger has a double-edged blade with a central ridge. The functional dagger continues with an S-shaped guard. Grooves adorn the center of the guard.

Next, the pommel technically starts immediately after the guard. Right after the guard, this long pommel is narrower for a more comfortable grip. Then, it widens out into a flared, fish-tail shape that helps keep the hand from sliding off the end. The peened brass pommel has a groove down the center. There are smaller grooves near the end.

While one explanation for the katzbalger name claims that the name comes from carrying the weapon without a scabbard, you will not have to do so with this dagger.

This arming dagger comes with a leather scabbard. The brown scabbard has a brass chape and throat. The throat has a pair of hanging rings, perfect for adding the dagger to a buckle belt or ring belt, sold separately. This German dagger makes a great sidearm for any Landsknecht warrior or medieval mercenary.
