This dress is absolutely incredible! The cotton velvet is a rich, heavy weight — they did not skimp on quality. I’m a true size 4 (sometimes a small 6), and the size Small fits like it was custom made for me. The lacing on the bodice allows plenty of flexibility, especially for different chest sizes.
Quick tip: before putting it on, completely unlace the bodice about halfway down. That gives you enough room to open it fully and step in without straining the fabric or eyelets. Take your time when getting your arms into the attached sleeves — mine were initially laced to the bodice incorrectly (possibly backwards or upside down), so be sure to double-check how they’re attached. I simply unlaced and re-laced the top of the sleeves so they hung properly, just like the listing photos.
I love how the bodice hugs the torso and drapes just off the shoulders, letting your shift peek out beautifully. I styled mine with two thin belts, wrapped as shown in the photos, and paired it with the Elaine Noble Lady’s Velvet Bonnet in Brown — it has hints of red and green that tie everything together perfectly.
And while I probably shouldn’t say this… this dress has the craftsmanship of gowns I’ve seen priced over $300. It’s 100% worth every penny — you’ll look and feel absolutely stunning.
