Inspired by the Ancient Tales

Sculpted from cold-cast bronze, this Inanna statue brings to life the ancient empires of the Fertile Crescent, whose pantheons and mythologies are passed down through the annals of history. Cold-cast bronze is a resin composite that utilizes powdered bronze to create a sculpture that is lightweight like resin, but possessed of a metallic bronze luster resembling gold. Every detail of this Mesopotamian goddess statue is painted by hand to bring her mythic heritage to life.

As an ancient Sumerian goddess, Inanna was often associated with political power, divine authority, and interpersonal relationships. Her worship would later be picked up by the Akkadians, Babylonians, and Assyrians, whom would call her Ishtar and later Astarte by the Phoenicians. As such, Inanna is depicted in all her glory with royal symbols and powerful animal companions from millennia past. This design is faithful to her traditional depictions on seals and carvings throughout history.

Starting with the goddess, she has four wings outstretched from her back. Two raised, two lowered. She wears a high crown of bronze adorned with a winged blue faux gem. Please note the faux gem accents are not real gemstones. Her long, curly hair hangs behind her. Coiled around her neck is a long serpent with realistic scales. In one hand, she holds a long, royal staff. The staff has horns with a flower accent at the top. In the other, she holds a recurve bow designed for war. A quiver of arrows hangs across her shoulder.

Around her waist is a faux cloth belt accented with the eight-pointed star, a faux blue gem inlaid in the center. Three blue gems are dangling from the end of this star. A serpent slithers up her right leg, another significant symbol of death and fertility. Beside her is a lion sitting on its hind legs. It strikes a supplicant pose, awaiting her command. The rocky base has a plaque that reads “Inanna” in front. This rocky base makes the bronze Inanna Sumerian Goddess Statue easy to place on most flat surfaces.
