The Enki Sumerian God of Water Statue transports you to the ancient world of Mesopotamia. Within Sumerian civilization, Enki was revered as a fusion of water, wisdom, and knowledge.

Artisan Craftsmanship from Ancient Sumer

This Enki statue, handmade from cold-cast bronze, is painted by hand for an extravagant amount of detail worthy of the glories of the ancient Sumerians. Cold-cast bronze is a resin composite that utilizes powdered bronze to create a sculpture that is lightweight like resin, but possessed of a metallic bronze luster designed to resemble gold. Serving as a revered and respected deity, Enki represents water, order, and knowledge in the Sumerian pantheon. This statue depicts the god Enki in all his glory, parting the waters as he looks out over his domain.

At the top, Enki wears a tall Sumerian hat, also known as a high-crown or mitre. This crown has scrolled symmetrical trim like horns and accented with wreaths of blue and gold. Similar to his mythical inspiration, Enki has long, coiled hair with a symmetrical coiled beard. His coiled hair hangs down past his shoulders. Adorning his shoulders is a studded golden mantle with blue accents. There is a golden flower accent with a faux blue gem hanging down the front mantle.

On one shoulder, there is a mighty eagle symbolizing his authority and the rule of law. The eagle has it’s wings spread as if taking flight. On the other, there is a serpent coiling from his shoulder down to his wrist. The serpent represents fertility and rebirth, crafted with realistic scales for added detail. Further down, he wears a kaunake, also known as a skirt made from faux tufted fabric. Enki is also carved with intricate musculature, giving him a life-like presence.

Each hand holds parts of this tufted skirt. The skirt is blue and flows magnificently toward the base. This tufted fabric skirt also forms the parting waves of the sea, creating a brilliant cascading effect with intricately detailed fish swimming throughout. These fish have blue and green scales with golden fins. At the bottom, there is a small plaque that reads “Enki.” This base allows you to place this statue on most flat surfaces.
