In an age when ambitious monarchs and ruthless mercenaries roamed the lands, this Brandolf Landsknecht Slit Sleeve Doublet is an essential part of starting your character’s journey. Let it become the perfect piece for your Landsknecht or sellsword character ideas.
A Tribute to Medieval Europe’s Infamous Mercenaries
Crafted from pure cotton velvet, this medieval doublet has an iconic Landsknecht aesthetic. Velvet is a soft and comfortable fabric. At the top, it has a raised collar and capped shoulders for a bold yet sophisticated look.
The long puffy sleeves give you freedom of movement without compromising your style. They have a two-tone color scheme, the outer sleeve is black and the inner sleeve is beige. These sleeves flare out at the shoulders and taper into a closer fit at the forearms. The long sleeve cuffs each secure with lacing around the forearm.
In the front, this medieval fantasy doublet has six buttons. It’s fitted at the natural waist. The buttons end at the waist, leaving the lower section open for greater mobility. Available in multiple sizes, this men’s Renaissance doublet accommodates a wide variety of body types.

This doublet arrived today, and I love it!
The material is rugged, yet feels like velvet. It is 100% cotton.
The sewing and craftsmanship are good as well.
It looks exactly as it does in the online catalog photos. It looks very good with a white or a crimson shirt underneath.
One word on sizing though; I have a 39″-chest, and can barely button this medium size up all the way, (which claims it fits up to 41″-chest).
I should have gone one size higher but had no “true-to-size (US)” reviews to take advice from. If your chest is 39″-41″, get the Large!
I likely wouldn’t wear this buttoned up anyway, especially in the summer, as the cotton material is a bit thicker than regular cotton-weave: and the slashed sleeves require the wearer to wear a shirt of some sort beneath this doublet.
That aside, this doublet is very handsome! Not so formal so as to not be everyday wear; yet formal enough for carousing about a large-town, or a big city. Not only is this doublet good-looking, it is also “classy” looking: could be worn by easy going nobility, or a simple Yeoman putting on the dog. I deem this handsome and flattering garment a resounding 5-stars!

Upon reading the outstanding review above: I purchased a larger size of this fine garment, and it is wonderful! It fits, and is made every bit as well as the first one!
Since I purchased another of these fine doublets, I got to write another review! I like my points!
So, yes, you bet I’m going to write another review!
This is, in all seriousness, a fine, well made doublet; and at a very reasonable price; especially given the outstanding quality of this doublet.
I have a weakness for the doublet in general. It is one of my favorite pieces of medieval men’s clothing.
It was also a garment that lasted a long while in the various styles of men’s dress through the Middle Ages.
The doublet is a handsome garment, and this doublet is very sharp looking indeed. It is also a very versatile garment which could serve a myriad of medieval characters, and time periods.
I love my doublets! I give this doublet a loud 5-stars!! …Again! (I would never have bought two of these if they weren’t spectacular!)
