Rivets and rounded edges aid in deflection. An adjustable strap, made of top-grain leather, keeps the helmet in place. For the cost, this helmet is AMAZING! It feels sturdy and although it’s fairly complex in its construction, it’s well-aligned and all of its pieces are firmly fixed together. I’m reasonably sure this helmet would not be appropriate for full-contact HEMA type fighting, but for any light-contact larping it’s certainly enough.
For a full helm it’s very well ventilated. The visibility is also acceptable, although it takes a lot away from ground-level peripheral vision (as discovered while wearing it in my house and almost tripping over a couple of steps). Due to the fact that the face plate protrudes downward a bit, it’s also tricky to tilt the head downwards while wearing the helm. It may not be wise to wear this on anything other than relatively flat and unobstructed ground.
