There is no need to sacrifice comfort for a strong defense with the Arthur Padded Coif. This arming cap takes inspiration from the padded arming wear of the Middle Ages. It is handmade from layers of sturdy cotton canvas and polyester padding. Available in three different sizes, the cap is made to fit snuggly over your head, enhancing the comfort and fit of your helmet or chainmail. The Arthur Padded Coif matches the rest of the arming wear in the Arthur series.

Extremely convenient. I don’t have to put on the full padded hood and buckle it and it’s very nice not having to do so. Very nice piece. I’ve purchased 4 and will probably get more for that price so I can keep all my sparring partners properly safe.

Solid padding for the price, but even for a guy with a big head the large was crazy large. Seriously – measure your head circumference before you order, but once you do have it you’ll be in the clear. Great for cooler weather. Did not relish the thought of wearing it at a summer renaissance festival.

I was looking for a slightly less bulky and padded arming cap and this fit the bill. Speaking of fit, I think of myself as somebody with a pretty large head, but the size large on this was HUGE. It still worked though, and I was happy enough with the quality, comfort and price of this product that I just might reorder it in a medium.

Basically a nice little padded hat. Does a great job with a greathelm on, and is honestly comfortable enough, I think it would actually work as a winter hat. I would trust the sizing guide for this product. My coif sits up on my head slightly, but grips tightly enough that it wont fall off, and wearing a helmet eliminates that issue. Makes helmets so much more comfortable and actually helps to keep the helmet stable on your head under contact, your helmet basically doesnt move when hit.

I have a big head and the medium fits a little snug. The large is such a jump up though, check sizing chart- other reviews saved me. Comfortably snug is better than way too big, it’s also very warm,

Excellent quality. Makes wearing a helmet feel like nothing. It is definitely warm, and could affect your hearing a little. I have pretty good hearing so it didn’t bother me at all.

Great quality. I got it with the riveted aluminum chain coif, and it protects me from it perfectly! A little warm for Central Florida but it’s one of the sacrifices we make for armor!

So I bought 2 of these in medium for my 59 centimeters head. They fit tightly and both are the same size as far as circumference goes- at least as far as I can tell when wearing them. They are both for sure different thicknesses though. I have a couple different helmets and I was wearing my new one I just bought and had a hard time putting my helmet on. It did for not stupid tight and I was nervous I wasn’t going to be able to get my helmet off but it did come off with force- and I repeated it a few more times to be sure. The newest one I purchased, due to its thicker padding, works great for another helmet I have as it was a bit loose but now fits great. And the “older” 1 I purchased works great for my already tight fitting helmet. And no my “older” cap isn’t old by any means. These were literally purchased within a month or 2 of each other and I have only worn them a few days a week when I put all of my gear on and do cardio for an hour or so. So there is not consistency when buying these. You may get a thinner or thicker 1 and you’d never know it unless you bought 2 of them and even then they may match but mine don’t. Still 5 stars as they’re great though.
