Historical Workmanship

Crafted by hand from polystone, every detail on this Alexander the Great statue is also painted by hand with a passion for Macedonian history. Polystone is a resin composite that utilizes powdered stone to create a sculpture that is lightweight like resin, but possessed of a marble-white finish. The statue depicts Alexander III, King of Macedon, who forged an empire by conquering the Achaemenid Persian Empire. By the time of his death in 323 BC, he controlled territory from Macedon and Greece to the west, Egypt to the south, and even the Hindu Kush to the east.

Starting from the top, Alexander is wearing his lion-shaped helmet with a white crest and golden feathers. The lion’s fangs are also golden. His white cloak billows around him in the imaginary wind. He wears a linothorax, also known as a linen cuirass, which is an accurate detail inspired by real historical Greek armor. He wears golden bracers engraved with the rising sun of the Argead dynasty. In one hand, he holds a golden sword. In the other, he holds a golden scabbard.

Moving down to the base, it has been carved to resemble the rocky ground of an imaginary battlefield. This rocky base rests on a square platform bordered with key patterning.
