A great example of re-enactment weaponry, the Tourney Arming Sword comes in a blunt design that is perfect for training and stage combat. The functional sword is forged from 9260 high carbon spring steel tempered to about 50 Hrc. The guard of the medieval sword is constructed with a steel tab under the grip, which is peened through the tang of the sword to prevent the guard from going loose, all without compromising the strength of the hilt. The round, stainless steel pommel is pressed into place and hot peened, as well.

The leather-wrapped grip feels excellent in the hand. Texturing creates a cord-wrapped look and feel on the single section of leather. Also, the grip has an oval cross-section and slight barrel shape, and the design is large enough to accommodate armored hands. A fuller runs the length of the blade to lighten and counterbalance the re-enactment sword. A wooden core, leather-wrapped scabbard tipped with a stainless steel chape completes the piece.

I recently bought two of these swords for actual sword fencing. They perform very well, though even with a 3-4 millimeter edge, they already have lots of dents from being clashed against each other. But this doesn’t detract from the value of the swords as I didn’t buy them to be pretty but to be tough, which they certainly are. There is nothing loose in the hilt construction; solid as a rock.
The scabbards are also very well made. they fit the blades close enough so that the swords don’t rattle or slip out by themselves, but not too tight so that you can’t draw them easily.
The only negatives about these two swords is that the handles were not cord wrapped like the description says, but with one square piece of leather. Not a big deal for me though. The other is that the leather throat of the one scabbard didn’t match the color of the rest of the scabbard or grip. Also not big deal.
I also would like to say that the customer service here is amazing! Shipping was very fast!
