Rome had a lot of emperors, and this impressive pack contains a representation of each of them. The Twelve Caesars Coin Pack contains twelve individual coins, all contained within their own little blister pack, as well as historical info on the back. Each coin represented within this pack is a typical Roman denarius that features the likeness of one of the first twelve rulers of the Roman Empire. Under each coin is the name of the ruler, as well as the dates of their rule. The back of the pack features information about the twelve Caesars, as written by Suetonius Tranquilus, a famous Roman historian. Each coin is made from lead-free pewter and features an impressively detailed appearance. These coins would make for a fantastic personal acquisition, being just the things to add to any growing collection of Roman memorabilia. The Twelve Caesars Coin Pack would also make for a fantastic gift to give to anyone you know who might have more than a passing interest in Roman history.

The coins each have their own unique shape and dimensions; the diameters range between approx. 17-20mm and they’re all approx. 1mm thick. Five of the coins have WRL stamped on the obverse, seven have it stamped on the reverse. The stamp is small enough to be invisible from a distance and is usually placed to be unobtrusive, but it does particularly stand out on the Augustus coin (I think it’s due to the blank space on the design of the extant coin, from being cast off-center).

There is a paper barcode sticker on the back which does not remove easily from the cardboard packaging. It covers the back of the Vespasian, Titus, and Domitian coins. While the sticker does come off the plastic pretty well, it would be a hassle to cleanly remove from the cardboard (though it does seem possible). Since I never planned to display the packaging this didn’t affect the rating I gave here, but it’s important to be aware of if you’re planning to display the packaging.

I bought this with the intention of taking the coins out, so while I was expecting to need to destroy the packaging I was hoping I might be able to salvage it as reference to help identify each coin later. The packaging on this particular set did not disassemble well, and I had to tear the cardboard to get access to the plastic holding the coins in place. They are all held in the same blister pack and it is not reusable – it’s made of two plastic sheets glued together and once you peel them apart the adhesive is broken. This blister pack is clearly not designed to be visible, with roughly cut edges which aren’t aligned. I mention this because I’ve found that there are a few types of packaging used in the Westair reproductions sold here and some of them are easier to disassemble; a few of their blister packs are reusable but this is not one of them.
