The steel greaves are composed of multiple curved metal segments, including a piece that can be closed around the back of the calf to block blows to the legs. A knee segment at the top is designed in a way that does not hinder your movements while offering additional coverage. Showing off a bright metal finish, the leg armour features decorative rivets that provide a striking look perfect for LARPing and re-enactments. - This armour will arrive to you covered in protective oil. While this oil can be removed, it must be replaced with another protective maintenance product to protect your steel armour from rusting. Occasional oiling is necessary for the proper maintenance of this armour. When storing this armour, protect it from oxidation by coating it with machine oil. These greaves are awesome…but big and heavy, so be ready for the weight. If you own the Vladimir bracers, you owe it to yourself to get these too. The extra piece that hinges around the calf is just icing on the cake. I strongly suggest wearing the Leopold padded greaves with them, as they have a padded lip that extends over the top of the foot and conforms with the shape of these greaves. I thought the knee section would be more articulated, but it’s not a big issue. With a pair of the Balthasar belt shields, I have pretty much full leg coverage. These are really nice fantasy-style greaves for the price.
