Scottish Cutlass

The crashing of waves, the roar of cannons, the shout of rogues through the foreboding mist – the Scottish Cutlass cannot help but unleash adventurous images. Scottish born Capt. William Kidd would certainly have favored this sword. As seen in period art, the Scottish basket hilt was at times married to a cutlass blade. This one has a double edge for the first 9 inches of the blade. The basket itself historically provided excellent hand protection and could even deliver a hard blow in the crowded melee that often ensued on board ships.

My wife,& daughter bought it as a Christmas (2015) Gift for me.I opened it up with excitement,as I’d been wanting to get one for quite a few years,& was thrilled with it,Excellent Blade, beautiful sword, very strong, sturdy,& functional, just one problem……… edge at all, which is why I gave it a satisfaction rateing of 3.It is listed as having a double edge for the first 9 inches, which is a clear indication that there is supposed to be an edge, yet there is none..on either side.If there was an edge,I’d of given it a 5 easily.
