- This armour will arrive to you covered in protective oil. While this oil can be removed, it must be replaced with another protective maintenance product to protect your steel armour from rusting. Pikeman’s Cuirass item # MH-A0798 is a pikeman’s armor based on the illustrations in Jacob de Gheyn ‘s 1607, Exercise of Arms. Based on that book Marshal Historical has made a set of pikeman’s armor that is the this type of armor what would have been used by the Pilgrims when they came to America in 1620. This is the recommended armor for the Mayflower Guard, the color guard for the General Society of Mayflower Descendants. It is the most period appropriate armor for early 17th century militia in colonial America.
