With its striking appearance, the Maldon Viking Seax serves as a fantastic historical dagger replica. A design popular among Germanic and Anglo-Saxon peoples, the Norse seax makes a great weapon for collecting or putting to work. The functional dagger is made from tough 1065 high carbon steel. Computer controlled ovens provide strength, resiliency, and edge retention, tempering the full tang blade to an RC in the low 50s. The functional seax is then expertly sharpened, and the design is finished with super strong steel parts. A stonewashed black finish gives each period dagger a dramatic look. This Viking dagger comes with a sheath.
The pieces in the Battlecry Series are individually inspected at each step of the manufacturing process. Each model is put through rigorous tests to ensure that they exceed industry standards and comes with a signed certificate.
Chronicled in an Old English poem, the Battle of Maldon involved a Viking incursion in Essex, England that ended with the defeat of Earl Byrhtnoth and his thegns.

This is a great seax ! Light and banlaced in the hand . Came sharp but not super sharp but it’s good steel and takes a good edge.

This blade is part of the Windless “Battle Cry” series which is a fairly heavily reviewed group of swords. Most all reviews have been pretty stellar. So all I can add is that this particular blade is very well made, nicely crafted and very strong. It is a true “battle ready” blade. My one gripe (and I have quite a few of the Battle Cry blades) is that the scabbards for their blades is the same basic style regardless of the era of the blade. Windless could do a little updating of the scabbards to make them more appropriate for the era of the sword they are representing (at least on the Battle Cry series). Other than that one negative, this is a fantastic rendition of a long seax.

Very happy with this purchase.
Solidly constructed and looks great. The stout blade is not razor sharp but definitely ‘machete sharp’ and can be made sharper if you wish.
The leather sheath is well fitted and looks great.
I’m a fan of the Battlecry line and this one holds up to the solid reputation.
