Fighting against your enemies on the battlefield, you raise the MAA American Spontoon in anticipation of the oncoming cavalry attack. Take this mighty and classic polearm to your next medieval or Renaissance reenactment.

Made from 1055 high-carbon steel, this infantry halberd is fully functional. This half pike polearm features a blackened, three-pronged blade. It has a long, double-edged center point with smaller, single-edged points on the sides. Concave cutouts rest at the inside corners of the points. In the middle of each point, there is a cutout cross design.

The spear head has a long socket at the bottom. Three ridges ring around the socket. The spontoon head attaches to a long wooden haft. The lengthy haft is perfect for keeping your enemies at bay. This man-at-arms polearm is ideal for historical reenactments and even just adding to any weaponry collection. It will impress all who see you.

Historical Info about Spontoons

While the spontoon was most popular in the 18th and 19th century, this spontoon works well across other centuries and eras as well, from the medieval to the Renaissance. It takes its design from a weapon used for a long period of time, including the beginning of the United States.

As time went on, the spontoon, or espontoon as it is sometimes called, became less of a weapon used against cavalry, and more a symbol of authority and discipline. In fact, it was eventually carried solely by sergeants.

This polearm comes in two pieces and assembly is required. Instructions for assembly.
