EPIC! All of the Tolkien props designed by Weta Workshop are amazing, but this has to be one of the best. United Cutlery did a superb job replicating it.
What can I say about the looks? It’s absolutely beautiful. The paint job looks like real horn, brass, and silver.
The weight is about as heavy as it would be if it was made out of real materials. Though the polyresin is solid and durable enough, I’m careful not to let it bang into anything hard because it’s too precious to risk getting a scratch or crack.
The polystone wall mount is also magnificent! Simple to hang up and wonderfully compliments the colouring of the horn.
The braided strap is quite good. Made of real leather, but it is too long for me. This is no problem at all however, as it is easy enough to shorten or replace with your own strap.
I was glad to acquire this collectible just for how awesome it looks, but besides all that, it is also possible to blow this horn! I have a special appreciation for blowing horns and have always wanted my own. I’ve bought a few real cow horns that were supposed to be blowing horns, but after much trying, I could not get them to produce any note. When I saw United Cutlery came out with this replica, I had to get it! Upon receiving the horn, I attempted blowing it. After a little bit, I was able to sound a quite loud and ringing blast! It is a little tricky to get the right embouchure, but it is totally possible. Maybe other horns play a more beautiful note, but none can compete in looks!
I would recommend this product to any Tolkien, medieval, or fantasy fan, and it is definitely a must have for any true Son of Gondor!
