Made of 18 gauge polished steel, the Gustav Gorget is a versatile piece of plate armour suitable for a variety of LARP and other medieval inspired outfits. It can be worn both over and under a breastplate or on its own over a padded underlayer like a padded mantle. The sturdy buckled strap on each of the shoulders of the piece makes it easy to attach a variety of spaulders. Gorgets are armour pieces designed to protect the neck and upper chest from attack, and the Gustav Gorget provides this fundamental defense with impeccable quality and adaptability.

Looking for the matching pieces of this armour? Create the complete look with our Gustav Full Armour Outfit (OUTFIT-M17), which includes the Gustav Gorget alongside the other pieces of this armour set.

Please be aware that this armour is handmade, and it can be thicker than listed here. As such, it is intended mainly for costuming, light reenactment, and LARP.

This is a nice fitting gorget for the price. It swivels open smoothly, and the straps are heavy-duty. The leather is very stiff though, and quite short. It took me a while to figure out the CORRECT way to attach spaulders. (Instructions not included. Ha!) The look is quite austere…good for a simple ‘man-at-arms’ look. Overall, a nice product. Do yourself a favor and get a padded collar for underneath…you could get pinched. :)…Mark M.

Very happy with this purchase. It is formed very well and fits nicely. The strap is a bit think and tough to open, so a little help may be needed. I got the Gustav Shoulders with it and the fit nicely together. Also came nicely packed in its oil to prevent rusting.

Great, affordable piece for new entrants to LARP. I picked one up shortly before my first LARP event and got compliments on it. I’d recommend getting a shirt with a high collar just to prevent the metal rubbing against your neck, it’s not painful but it can be a little irritating. Highly recommend, looks great, good price. Simple, affordable way to make an outfit really pop.

The space for my neck was adequate and it didn’t constrict me at all
The straps are a bit confusing but practice makes perfect there
I did have to bend it to shape a bit, but i am also a very large man and i have to do this with most armor i buy
    All in all, satisfied

Really pleased with this one. I’m a big man (300lbs 6ft even) with a big head (23″ cir) and thick neck (20″) and this fits extremely well over my mail mantel & undergarments. My first gorget attempt (the markward gorget) was two separate pieces and didn’t fit/seat well at all for me despite the “22 inch” neck circumference. This gorget sits well over mail without a plate chestpiece, but I can tell it will seat very well over any chest piece I later add. The front levers open from a hinge on the left side and is very easy to self buckle, even after attaching some very large pauldrons to the sides (the markward pauldrons attached just fine – likely as this is the same manufacturer). Great value, and glad I gave gorgets a second chance.

To attach pauldrons you just need to loop the straps on the left and right side of the gorget through the buckle (no pin) of the pauldrons and then bring back to the gorget and buckle in with the gorget buckle / pin from the same strap. This creates a loop holding the loose buckle of the pauldrons – the first picture of this item shows what the gorget’s straps and buckle are doing in that set up.
