The Polished German Sallet Helmet takes inspiration from a late medieval helmet style most known for the extended plates at the back designed to protect the neck. This medieval sallet has a polished gleam to its mild steel construction, and it comes in your choice of 16 gauge or 18 gauge steel. The neck protection takes the form of four overlapping plates. This helmet was actually more than what I was hopping for. It is nice, comfortable with or without an arming cap (Though would recommend wearing one), all around it doesn’t put too much pressure upon the head even with it’s weight, which is to be expected with a product such as this. It is a fine quality helm that really gives you that authentic feeling once worn. 11/10

The helmet was everything I was looking for. I have the 16-gauge variant, as I do spar with it, and every part of it feels solid. It looks good, fits well with the Articulated Bevor, and stands up to any blow I’ve taken. As expected, it does limit vision pretty severely, but if you buy a sallet expecting it not to, that’s your own fault. The visor locks down, but does not stay up on its own, which would be nice, but overall I still love the helmet regardless.

I can barely describe how awesome this Sallet is. I bought the 16 gauge one but it was out of stock and medieval collectibles told me it would take about 2-4 months before they could get it. I thought it would be one of those things wear it ends up taking 7 months or something but no. After a little more then 4 months, I have it so I’m immensely happy. I would like to thank all the ladies and gentlemen at Medieval Collectibles for being so great. I really appreciate it! Back to the Sallet. I love how the light padding inside is bolted and not glued. The vizor locking down is great and if I need more vizion I just lower my bevor. The man who wrote one of the above reviews said that this Sallet works well with the articulated bevor (it’s labeled articulated gorget if you are going to look for it, but it is technically also a bevor) so I purchased that as well and would like to thank that fellow for his great advice. It works perfectly. I was hoping the Sallets chin strap would be long enough to go over my bevor so they could move together but it is so awesome I really don’t mind anymore. It went over my expectations. If you are looking for a German Sallet I heartedly recommend this one. It is truly amazing. God bless you all. Ephesians 6:17

This is a great helmet just to own, it came extremely oily and had to clean it a bit but the heft is great. I can use this with my glasses underneath, and the only thing I would say against it is that the face plate won’t stay up. Still a great buy.

This helmet is great. I was well aware of this missing a spring pin to hold the visor up, and I’m already talking with a blacksmithing friend to potentially make a pin for me.
I took a gamble and this pairs really well with Item Number HW-700922.
The only reason I have this on four stars, is because of no way to hold the visor up or sling it back far enough to keep it up.
