Short-range throwing weapons are nothing new. They were around even in the 8th Century in the form of the French throwing axe, which was used immediately before the commencement of short-range combat to break the shields of the enemy. With the Francesca Axe, you can place history in your hand and feel what combat was like over a millennium ago. This beautiful weapon features a narrow high-carbon steel head with a forge finish ending in a flared, unsharpened blade. The hardwood haft of the axe is short and slightly curved to facilitate throwing. The Francesca Axe works perfectly as a practice weapon for those learning to throw. You can bring this functional axe to a historical reenactment or battle.
