This mail shirt is sized for children or small teenagers and adults. Made of steel rings woven in a traditional 4-in-1 pattern, this short sleeve hauberk has been given an acidic treatment that gives it a distinctive dark coloring and protects against rust. A 4-in-1 pattern consists of four chainmail rings woven through another ring. These rings are butted together throughout, then reinforced with riveting at the arm pits. For best comfort and safety, wear this medieval chainmail shirt over a padded gambeson. The short sleeves make it great for layering, and it coordinates well with steel and leather armour pieces as well as other chainmail armour. Fits like a glove, almost a little too snug yet I simply slung it on with excitement to see what I got. Though it is an amazing piece, while there were a few missing links here and there, its not noticeable unless inspected. Coated in a protective lubricant and stuffed inside a neat bag. Very very pleased with this, well worth the wait.

This stuff is pretty legit. Be aware it is quite heavy. Wearing this around at the renaissance faire all day became quite tiring, especially on my shoulders. That is not a complaint though, just the reality of proper chainmail. It is a bit of a pain to clean after you first get it and I had to wash it several times before it was wearable and even then it still got grease stains on anything it touched so make sure to wear it over something you don’t care about getting dirty and that is quite durable since the heavy metal takes a toll on any fabric it is in contact with for long periods of time. It’s a pain to get on and off, but once on fits quite well. My only complaint was the collar line which was a bit snug and chaffed my neck a bit.
