In the West, a shotgun was a deadly weapon in its own right, but when cut down, it became even deadlier. This Cut-Down 1881 Double Barrel Shotgun is an incredibly detailed replica that recreates this classic weapon for all to see, hold, and enjoy. The detailing on this weapon is incredible, so much so that it looks realistic. A cut-down double barrel shotgun was a dangerous weapon, one that was quite forgiving of accuracy if you were close enough. Typically, a cut-down shotgun like this was known as a street howitzer because of the immense power it packed at close ranges. Like its larger cousin, this impressive replica has a hardwood stock, although this one is shorter to accommodate a smaller, one-handed grip. The barrels are still antiqued, but are much shorter, befitting its cut-down size. The working thumb lock still allows the barrels to break open, and the triggers still cock back and fall when the appropriate trigger is pulled. This impressive replica measures approximately 21.5 inches long. Please note that this is a decorative replica shotgun and that in spite of its realistic look and its moving parts, it is not capable of being converted into a working firearm that live fires. Also, it should not be excessively dry fired. Doc Holiday was said to use a street howitzer during the gunfight at the OK Corral, which gives this wicked little weapon a true place in history, as well as a place in the hearts of collectors. Give it as a gift to those you know who love all things western or all things gun, or keep the Cut-Down 1881 Double Barrel Shotgun for yourself, as it is an enjoyable display piece that makes for a great collectible, a fun decoration to handle, and a perfect prop for your western costume adventures.
