The Californian Model Ship has become the official state tall ship of California. The ship was originally based on the C.W. Lawrence, which operated along the coast of California in the 1850s for the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service. This model beautifully depicts all the right colors and angles that made the original Californian so attractive. This replica features cannons on deck, as well as numerous other nautical items. It seems a shame to point out that the Californian operates only in California. Yet anyone can experience the Californian Model Ship for a fraction of the cost of flying to California, making this model a fine item to add to your home.

A Brief History of the Californian
Californian was built in 1984 as a replica of the revenue service cutter C.W. Lawrence, which operated off the Californian coast in the 1850s. She is known as the Official State Tall Ship of California thanks to Bill No. 965, signed in 2003.
Originally commissioned by the Nautical Heritage Society, the Californian has flown the state flag up and down the Californian coast and in ports ranging from Hawaii, Mexico, and the East Coast. She has also represented the state at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Recently she was acquired by the Maritime Museum of San Diego, where she underwent a complete overhaul. Currently, the Californian has now returned to providing sail training and sea educational programs up and down the Californian coast, while providing weekend sailing trips to the public every Saturday in the summer.
