The Tapestry of Bayeux depicts the knights and guardsman of William the Conqueror. On their heads rest Spangenhelms similar to the Blacwin Darkened Norman Helmet, a perfect fit for those who wish to reenact the Battle of Hastings. Handcrafted from 16 gauge steel, this nasal helmet consists of a ridged dome with nose guard and cheek flaps. Ridges and rivets provide extra protection against blows. An inner lining increases the comfort and fit of the helmet, while adjustable buckle straps secure it at the chin. The darkened finish is due to an electrochemical treatment, which aids in rust resistance.
Please be aware that this armour is handmade, and it can be thicker than listed here. As such, it is intended mainly for costuming, light reenactment, and LARP.

This is so much heavier and nicer than pictures can show. So nice and solid. The inner padding is perfect. Only downside is the chin strap is positioned way too far forward and is basically un-useable sitting out in front of your chin. Helmet is soooo nice though. Great customer service, always.

Good material. Great paint and color. You can feel the weight of the steel. It has this nice padding in the helmet and it’s very comfortable to wear. the nasal protection is great, though could be a bit unfriendly for a person wearing glasses.

I love this helmet. It feels good, it looks good. The padding is so nice that I don’t have to wear my arming cap or coif. There’s a sort of beauty in its simplicity. Also I can fit my sunglasses on under the nose guard, so that’s a plus on a sunny day! Speaking of which, the nose guard caught a sword thrust during sparring. Definitely solidly built.

For the price its amazing, I ordered a large due to my massive dome and it fit perfect. The colour is a really dark colour and it looks great. Padding inside it as well. All in all its fantastic
