It is not recommended for weapons-contact re-enactment as mild steel butted rings may be distorted by heavy weapons contact. The rings are formed from round section wire and have a 10 mm internal diameter. This item is crafted from 16 gauge mild steel. Construction is in the 4 in 1 pattern that consists of four chainmail rings woven through another ring. Perfect for the non-contact or light-contact role-player on a budget, this shirt offers a great authentic appearance.

Having never bought chainmail before, I was a little worried I would be hearing my friends make the same Gimli saying, “It’s a little tight across the chest,” when I was wearing this. However, it’s actually surprisingly comfortable! I have a size 43-44 chest and it fits me just fine. The rings make it very flexible so you don’t feel trapped under it.
Don’t get me wrong, this shirt is heavy, but it’s much harder to put on than it is to wear. Once it’s on, it’s comparable having a back pack on. The weight is distributed surprisingly well.
The only reason I didn’t give it five out of five stars is because some of the rings aren’t completely closed and a couple fell off pretty soon out of the box. It doesn’t look to hard to use pliers to re-affix them, but I know I’m going to lose a few if I’m wearing this at a faire or something.
