SKU: ZS-DH-8009 Category:

An offshoot of the Late Medieval Period’s knightly dagger, the baselard first appeared in the 14th century as a common armament. With a long, sharp, pointed blade ideal for thrusting and stabbing (especially through the chinks in contemporary armor) and an easily-recognizable H-shaped hilt, the baselard quickly made a name for itself as the weapon of choice for the more violence-prone members of Renaissance society, sending a loud-and-clear message that anyone wearing one of these daggers on their hip was not to be trifled with. Recapture that aesthetic with our own Baselard Dagger, created using historically-accurate examples, and suitable for your own self-defense needs today! Crafted from stainless steel, our Baselard is 15 inches long overall with a 9-inch blade and a 6-inch handle. A striking wooden handle provides a strong grip, while the brass accents on both the crossguard and the pommel show everyone you mean business. Comes with a stitched leather sheath with a belt loop and a quick-release snap for instant access when you need it, this Baselard is personal protection reborn and with a vengeance.

For the price, and considering that I picked it at random just to qualify my order for a discount? I say this is an easy 5-stars.
The blade has a very nice, sharp edge. The wood on the handle LOOKS a bit rough at first, which gives it an authentic appearance, but is actually very smooth and comfortable to hold. My guess is that they went very easy on the clear finishing coat, so the wood looks more natural, but the handle is as smooth as that on any of my other knives or dagger. The wooden grip fits into the brass handguard and pommel FLAWLESSLY, and the full tang is held in place with a nut, so it can be tightened if it ever comes loose. The flaws in the workmanship are microscopic on the blade, and not present at all on the edge, and the only noticeable flaw in mine was the the tang nut was not perfectly on-center. Overall, this is an excellent piece, IMHO, and for the PRICE (Under $30) you can’t go wrong.
