The Romans were belts to hang their swords and daggers from as well as showing a soldier's position and rank. Medieval Collectibles has a full selection of Roman clothing including Gladiator skirts, Roman sandals, Roman Belts and Baldrics and Roman tunics.
Roman Coins
We offer a wide array of several types of roman coins, all faithful and historical reproductions, cast in pewter with either an antiquated or gold-plated finish. These roman coins come in various denominations, from the small as to the major denarius, many of which feature the bust of the ruling emperor when the coin was first struck in history.
Roman Daggers, Roman Pugio and Gladiator Daggers
Roman Soldiers carried roman daggers called pugio. Pugio daggers had very short but wide leaf type blade, about 7 to 11 inches long. The Roman pugio was used for stabbing and thrusting when fighting in close quarters with the enemy. When they were in close formation and the sword or spear could not be used, the Roman dagger was the next weapon of choice. Medieval Collectible's pugios are very functional and can be used in roman reenactments.
Roman Gifts
These functional items are simple yet striking; each one features a level of detail that makes it a fantastic roman gift that is certain to thrill history enthusiasts. Items as simple as key chains, pencil toppers, and pin badges can be counted among our roman gifts, with each one featuring something symbolic of the once-great Roman Empire: gladiators, helmets, and eagles are common themes, as are roman emperors and roman currency.
Roman Helmets, Gladiator Helmets, Roman Trooper Helms and Roman Centurion Helmets
A Roman soldier's helmet was called a galea. The crest of the Roman helmet was made of real plumes or horse hair and represented a ranking Roman Officer in the group. The Guals influenced the design of the Roman helmet called Imperial Gallic and also introduced chainmail to the Romans. We carry other types of Roman helms like the Roman crested helms, Gladiator helm, and the Greco-Roman Helm. We are sure that you will find the right Roman Helmet for the rest of your Roman armor.
Roman Jewelry
We offer a new take on roman jewelry; far from jewelry cut in the typical fashion favored by actual romans, this jewelry is, instead, a tribute to the history of ancient Rome. Each piece of attractive roman jewelry is made from lead-free pewter, and each piece depicts something that was significant or historical about the romans, in some way. Featuring a number of attractive pendants and earrings, each of these roman gifts is perfect for casual, every-day wear; these roman gifts are nothing if not casually comfortable.
Roman Pilums and Roman Spears
The gladius sword wasn't the only weapon that was integral to Roman warfare. Roman soldiers also typically carried multiple pilum into battle. Historically, the pilum was considered a javelin, possessing a wooden shaft joined to an iron shank with a roughly pyramidal head. Here at Medieval Collectibles, we have a number of pilums in various weights and sizes, as well as a number of Roman spears, some of them meant for use as a classic thrown weapon and others meant decorative or ocstume purposes.
Roman Shields, Functional Roman Shields and Roman Scutums
The Roman shield was called a Scutum which is the Latin word for shield. The shape of the Roman shield was retangular and semi cylindrical. This curved shape would protect the Roman soldiers in the front and sides. Roman shields were used by the Roman Army to deflect missiles targeted at the soldiers, as well as protect them from the impact of hand held weapons yielded at them. As time went by Roman shields took more of an oval flat shape. Medieval Collectibles carries full sized and functional Roman shields of all types.
Roman Statues
We carry a wide array of Roman statues that are great for adding a touch of Roman style and elegance to any room. These roman statues are great for themed rooms, although they also work equally well when placed as an intriguing knick-knack. These roman statues feature a number of classical roman depictions, ranging from something as simple as a roman soldier to something as grand as a famous roman emperor; we even feature statues of Roman war machines, like chariots and the like, ready to go to war.
Roman Swords, Gladiator Swords, Roman Gladius and Spartha Swords
The Legionaries of the Roman Empire used a short sword called a gladius sword. The primary function of the Roman sword was for thrusting and stabbing in close quarters with the enemy. Medieval Collectibles has fully functional Roman swords like the Roman Gladius Sword, Gladiator Sword, Roman Short Sword, and the Spartha sword. Roman Swords can be used for Stage re-enactments, theater, or take them to a Roman event. Other Roman swords are for costume purposes and are purely for decorative use.
