This historical style helm dates back to the 6th century. Today only four examples of this extraordinary helm style still exist in museum collections. Each surviving in reconstruction and restored from the fragments found at ancient burial sites at the Sutton Hoo excavation site in England. The Sutton Hoo Helmet was recovered from the site of an Anglo-Saxon ship burial. This reconstruction illustrated admirably the skill and decorative talent of the armorers of the period. The Sutton Hoo Helmet is hand made of high carbon steel and fully wearable.
