Detailed Item Descriptions:
Lorica Segmentata: believed to have been introduced in the ranks of the Roman Army during the first century A.D. and widely used at the height of the Roman Empire. Although it never completely replaced the mail (Lorica Hamata) and scale armour (Lorica Squamata), for the modern mind the Lorica Segmentata typifies the Roman soldier. Our replica is superb, made in India of 18 gauge steel by Windlass Steelcrafts. It is closely copied from a type of Lorica found in Newstead, Scotland, that dates from the second century A.D. This armour is quite flexible and allows plenty of freedom of movement. Wt. 17 lbs. 6 oz. Fits chest sizes 42 inches to 46 inches.

Roman Troopers Helm: Complete with cheek plates and brass fittings. Approx. 4 1/2 lbs. Made of 18 gauge steel.

Leather Roman Baldric: Use this fine quality leather baldric to complete many of your period outfits. The Baldric is the leather strap that goes across your chest and lets your sword hang at your hip. This does not include the roman belt, which can be purchased separately. The Roman Baldric is meant to be used with typical Roman Swords that have four metal rings on the scabbards, like our Pompeii Gladius or Roman Gladius - Maintz Pattern Swords. Each end of the baldric has two loops that go through a ring on either side of the scabbard and then secure by chicago screws. So there are a total of four leather loops to match up with the four metal rings on the scabbard. The sword is held upright at the waist. A great addition to any Roman Soldier's outfit. The baldric is brown.

Roman Soldiers Belt: Primarily ornamental, this Roman soldier's belt, called a "Cinculum Militaire", was comprised of a studded leather belt with varying numbers of hanging leather strips and sometimes metal rings. Based on one that was popular about 100 A.D. Our Roman Belt will accommodate up to a size 46" waist.

Roman Greaves: Designed to protect the lower leg from the cut of a sword or the vicious kicking that occurred during battle. Although worn by many Roman units, greaves were not worn by all. Our replica steel greaves are based on patterns pictured on Trajan's Columns and feature an articulated knee piece for extra protection. L-18 3/4". W-8 3/4". Bend-5 1/2".

Roman Tunic: Our brightly colored Roman tunic copies the standard issue to the Roman legions from the days of the Republic to the end of the Empire (around 400 A.D.). Worn under armor or by itself, the simple lines of this tunic are classic and lend themselves to many combinations of clothing from later periods of history. This oversized shirt extends to mid-thigh, giving it a distinctive look. Red only. Romans took the color from the Spartan's red cloaks as later did the English army. Spartans wore red so that their enemies would never see them bleed.

Roman Shield: We are excited to offer this wooden oval cavalry shield, which is covered front and back with leather. It has a black steel boss and gold leather wings and lightning on the face and arm straps on the back. Curved shield is 23" x 39" by 5/16" thick. Wt.-7 lbs. 4 oz. Later versions (we offer you the Pompeii) were not waisted and had a shorter point but were just as effective - and easier to make. Both swords served side-by-side for many years and it was not uncommon to find 4th century Legionaires carrying the earlier model. This is the sword that conquered most of the known world.
