John Henry Holliday, better known as Doc Holliday, was one of the great gamblers and gunfighters of the American Old West and his reputation as both a famed gambler and a skilled gunman are remembered well in this Doc Holiday Gambler's Boxed Set. Like many in the West, Doc Holliday did not just start gambling and shooting. He started life as a dentist, although upon learning that gambling was more lucrative, he began his career as a professional gambler, while still performing some light dentistry on the side. Despite a life of gambling (and in some circles crime), he was good friends with Wyatt Earp. Unlike most Western gunmen, though, he did not die by his wounds, but rather by tuberculosis. Being a famous gambler, this kit includes a deck of old West pharo cards, as well as a 100 dollar poker chip that features Doc Holliday's portrait on it. Also included with the kit is a non-firing replica of an 1866 double barrel derringer which features a faux pearl handle and highly engraved simulated brass barrels. The whole collection is included in a handsome little hardwood display box that features a four card straight flush in spades along the interior lid. The box measures approximately 7.5 inches long, 4.75 inches wide, and 2 inches tall. Even today, much of the mystique about Doc Holliday's life remains a mystery, as much of what he's accused of what he did remains unknown, even to historians. What is known, though, is that Doc Holliday is as much a famed western hero as his friend, Wyatt Earp, which means that this Doc Holliday Gambler's Boxed Set is a sure-fire way to appeal to someone who enjoys the history of the American West and all its colorful characters.
